Release Note - Entgra UEM 6.4.0

Release Date: 11th April, 2025

Entgra UEM 6.4 brings a range of new features, enhancements, and bug fixes aimed at making device management more secure, efficient, and flexible. The new version is designed to provide administrators with advanced tools for both Windows and Android devices, along with enhanced customization options for secure and seamless endpoint control.

Administrators can now easily deploy server CA certificates, manage Windows update installations, and automate tasks through custom scripts and PowerShell integration for Windows devices. For Android, the release introduces Zero-Touch Enrollment, USB data signaling control, and manual enrollment for Kiosk mode devices in camera-less environments.

The following sections outline a detailed breakdown of the key features and improvements introduced in Entgra UEM 6.4:

Windows

  • Windows Certificate Management: Deploy trusted root certificates from your Certificate Authority (CA) to managed Windows devices, facilitating the configuration of essential services such as Wi-Fi and email. This feature ensures enhanced security and seamless integration with corporate infrastructure.

  • Deploy Custom Scripts: Automate routine system tasks and configurations on Windows devices through custom scripts and PowerShell integration. Admins can remotely execute scripts from the UEM console without manual intervention.

  • ADMX Ingestion Support for Custom Policies: Extends ADMX policy management capabilities by enabling the import and configuration of custom ADMX policies. It supports third-party ADMX templates, offering enhanced flexibility and comprehensive control over user and device configurations.

  • Windows Push Notification Services (WNS) Support: Enables real-time communication between Entgra UEM and managed Windows devices using Windows Push Notification Services (WNS). This feature ensures efficient policy enforcement, status updates, and remote actions by delivering operations/notifications instantly, even when devices are in low-power or background states.

Android

  • Zero-Touch Enrollment: Simplifies the bulk provisioning and enrollment of Android corporate-owned devices by automating configuration without manual intervention. Devices are preconfigured to meet organizational requirements before being delivered to employees, ensuring a seamless and efficient deployment experience.

  • USB Data Signaling Control: Enable or disable USB data signaling on organization-owned managed devices. When disabled, USB data connections, excluding charging functions, are restricted, enhancing device security by preventing unauthorized data access or transfers via USB ports.

  • Manual Enrollment for Kiosk Devices: Manual enrollment option for Kiosk mode devices, offering an alternative to QR code-based enrollment. It supports camera-less devices, allowing administrators to enroll Kiosk devices without the need for QR code scanning, ensuring a more flexible and adaptable deployment process.

Other Improvements

  • Windows Updates Installation: Manage Windows update installations directly via the Entgra UEM console. Initiate the update process conveniently by selecting and triggering installations through the Windows Updates UI for available updates on managed Windows devices.

  • Enhanced Windows Assigned Access Policy: Improves the Windows Assigned Access policy by extending support to both Desktop and UWP apps, allowing for greater flexibility. It introduces the ability to pass arguments to desktop apps, addresses previous limitations, and enables the configuration of Microsoft Edge in Kiosk mode. By integrating the Assigned Access Configuration file, this update enriches the policy UI and SyncML engine, providing a more robust solution for managing kiosk devices.

  • Customizable Device Control Interface in Android Kiosk Mode: Customizable interface within Kiosk mode, allowing administrators to manage key device settings such as Wi-Fi, mobile data, and power configurations. The interface enables users in Kiosk mode to modify these settings, with access controls fully configurable through policies, ensuring enhanced flexibility and control over device management in secure environments.

  • Improved Operation Log for Alternate App Installation: Improves the operation log for the "Alternate App Install" process by capturing detailed information such as app name, app ID, success or failure status, username, and source URL to facilitate more effective installation and better transparency in the event of failures.
